The Nature of Possession

The ideas of “possession,” exorcism, and their signs are now widely replicated — and vulgarized — by films, television series, and other mass-cultural products designed to “tickle the nerves” of complacent philistines.
Yet the problem itself has always been central both to Magic and to the Magi who stand on guard over the balance of forces.
In mass-cultural products, the imagery of so-called “lower” possession is exploited: a relatively primitive predator insinuates itself into a being, feeds on its energy, and drives it toward degradation. But such cases are only one part of a much broader spectrum. Let us consider what the Tradition says on the matter.

First, not every active influence of a destructive being upon a person’s mind can be called possession. In one form or another, everyone experiences the influence of predatory elementals of the mind —Lamassu— and very many people, from time to time, fall under Qliphothic influences. Yet in most cases matters do not reach possession: the predators limit themselves to consuming diffuse energy without encroaching on vital constituents. Thus most people, in one way or another, serve as a “feeding base” for “shadow” entities which, accordingly, usually preserve their herd and even, in a sense, tend it.
Possession proper arises either when a deranged utukku “hides” within the human vortex from gallu, the “scavengers” of the Interworld; or when a demonic entity, driven by hunger, breaks through the Gates and requires a bearer — a conduit — in order to remain in Malkuth. In rare cases one also encounters possession by angels, who likewise require a conduit in the “dense” plane.

We have already discussed that, traditionally, two kinds of “cohabitation” of an alien entity within the host’s mind are distinguished —dybbuk and Ibbur. The fundamental difference is this: dybbuk is “classical” parasitism, in which the parasite feeds on the host’s energy but does not merge with the host’s nature; whereas Ibbur is the integration of an alien entity into the host’s energetic structures.
The first case is more characteristic of possession by restless souls—Elementers— beings essentially of the same nature as the host, but for some reason cut off from the great current of Power. The second case is more characteristic of an “obligate” predator’s intrusion into the psychocosmos — namely, a Demon in the narrow sense of the word. The most widespread variant of possession is the “cohabitation” of an Elementer, most often via the mechanism of dybbuk, and more rarely as Ibbur.

In any case, possession passes through three stages: 1) persuasion; 2) intrusion; and 3) control. In cases of prolonged Ibbur, a fourth stage may be added —integration— after which possession becomes irreversible.
At the first stage, the predator must obtain consent to enter. Therefore, people whose mind, for one reason or another, has “cracked” — who have lost integrity through trauma, an unsuccessful ritual, or their own choice — begin to feel the predator’s influence. It convinces the person of its “usefulness,” “benevolence,” and the supposed expediency of contact. One must remember that, since the individual mind has an integral microcosmic structure, no intrusion by an alien being is possible without the host’s consent.
Predators, honed by an endless search for nourishment, usually find “hooks,” destructors, with little difficulty. By manipulating these, they persuade the mind that invasion is necessary and beneficial. One of the most common stratagems is the game of “exceptionality”: convincing the potential victim that they have been chosen for a special purpose, that they are unique, and so on.

If the victim’s mind gives consent, the second stage begins —intrusion. Here the predator still acts cautiously, gradually and step by step, taking hold of the host’s key motivational points. This manifests as a “cooling” of the mind: a slow loss of the capacity for love and compassion, alongside an increase in pride — often, paradoxically, giving way to plunges into a sense of one’s own insignificance.
By playing these two states against each other — alternately manic arrogance and depressive self-abasement — the predator makes the mind dependent on the stronger will of the invader. The being’s own will weakens and not infrequently is broken entirely.
When the host’s capacity for resistance has been weakened as much as possible, the predator finally reveals its “true countenance,” and the being finds itself no longer “caressed” and “understood,” but captive and rightless. This is the stage of taking, which, as it spreads, becomes possession, when even the being’s outward manifestations are fully controlled by the invader.

It should be said that even at the stage of complete control, in most cases the being does not behave with the insane aggression that films like to depict. The majority of predators that manage to seize such prey are not primitive “super-beasts” (the intrusion of such lower predators is uncommon and the exception rather than the rule), but calculating beings for whom the prey’s premature destruction is unprofitable.
Nevertheless, at this stage the physical body, not adapted to holding such an alien being, begins to disintegrate; traces of decay become noticeable. Therefore, before the signs become unmistakable, the predator usually seeks the next victim, into whom it migrates after the prior body’s destruction.
If Ibbur occurs and matters reach the stage of integration, a kind of “hybrid” vortex arises, bearing features of both beings; control over it, however, belongs to the predator’s will. Let us repeat once again: at this stage possession becomes irreversible, and can end only after the being’s discarnation — and even then the chances are not great. Often such a “hybrid” being continues the predator’s life in the Interworld or strives toward new intrusions.
Over the course of history, three fundamentally different approaches to curing possession —exorcism— have developed.

The first approach is “egregoric”: the use of the superior force of an Egregore to “press out” the alien entity from the host’s vortex. This is precisely how “classical” church exorcism works. The larger vortex — the Egregore — overpowers the intruder-vortex and ejects it from the victim’s structure.
The second approach is “shamanic,” and most Magi-exorcists employ it: the Magus acts as a “conductor,” finding the victim’s own will and helping it escape the jaws of possession.
The third approach —self-exorcism— is characteristic only of those who possess a sufficiently strong and trained will, yet for some reason have fallen under alien influence. This approach is grounded in inner goetia: finding and removing alien intrusions within one’s own mind.

In one form or another, possession has always been a widespread problem. That it is not widely recognized today is due, in part, to the imposed image of the possessed person — a madman with black eyes, hissing and growling — and in part to the general frivolity with which modern people treat the condition of the mind.
Not seeing such theatrical symptoms, we easily pass by a person whose predator’s influence is less outwardly noticeable, though no less dangerous inwardly. Modern people are concerned chiefly with the degree of their mind’s social adaptiveness rather than its integrity and harmony. Predators, understanding this, usually do not deprive one of “mental health,” while they quietly strip away spiritual health.
For the Magus, the principled value is precisely inner harmony, integrity, and the orderedness of mind; and by striving toward these, they can — more or less effectively — resist attempts to intrude into their psychocosmos.

What is a sign of possession besides pride and lack of love? What is this classification of? Extreme forms of distortion of one’s energy. In such a descriptive model. What is it doing here and what is new in it is completely unclear. After all, if something is not to his liking, then it is a demon. Although I myself watched an interview with Chikatilo last week. Or today in the battle of psychics about the specific consciousness of a girl. But I have nothing to say about possession. For now, I can only fix a common amazing barrier they have, some kind of collapse in the perception of others. They don’t feel alive. Or is decay a sign? If someone fell ill, they mean possessed. I only say this, maybe it’s true. Everyone would die peacefully, in an epic way, transition and celebration. But Chikatilo had no visible ailments, no decay was apparent on him.
The specific signs of possession vary depending on who exactly is possessing. But the absence of the ability to love is a common sign. And if in a being hate prevails over love, then it is likely that there is an alien influence in them. Broken hearts are the favorite adornment of all demons. A cold heart is the favorite attribute of all predators.
Hitler didn’t have any visible ailments either. And I have encountered more than once that something undesirable was declared a possession. It’s so amazing how the ego distorts perception.
One should not confuse possession itself with the “corruption” of the soul. Most likely, neither Hitler nor Chikatilo were possessed in their own sense of the word; predators, if they took anything from them, took the results of their actions, not their energy. Such “corruption” can be either the result of “selling” one’s soul (https://en.enmerkar.com/myth/sobirateli-dush), or the integration of an ibbur in a post-mortem state in the between-worlds (in this case, the being is ‘born corrupted’).
So who is possessed then? What are these teachings, shouldn’t we confuse? I am not saying anything about possession in general yet; you wrote an article about some possessed without defining possession. The invasion of an ibbur and a vortex is not the same. What does a possessed person look like, how is he different? If by lack of love and pride, then everyone is possessed; if by illness – then also everyone.
Not simply ‘lack of love,’ but – resisting love, denying love. Not ordinary ‘pride,’ but – humiliating others, trampling them into the dirt, exaggerating their vices. And not ‘illnesses,’ but – destruction of the body occurring without obvious (organic) causes.
Tell me, why do you speak of the “corrupted soul”. What prevents similar cases from being embodiments on Earth of various predatory demons under the guise of people, without corrupted souls at all?
From experience, I can say that the overwhelming majority of people are 100% sure that all the thoughts they think, all the ideas they are interested in, all the actions they take are fruits of their own consciousness, which no one can influence from the inside. But this is not true. I encountered foreign thoughts in my head at the age of 18, during the introductory lecture of the founder of the U-Way school. It was not an entity, but a person who manipulated my body while I did not see her (it was a woman, one of the students of the same founder) while she was sitting about five to eight meters away from me. The woman made me feel a deep shame, bow my head to my feet, and not look at the lecturer on stage, because I was trying to ‘insert’ into his energy cocoon and look into his insides, and he felt this and directed her to neutralize me. Since then, I have realized that not all thoughts in my head are mine. It’s just an idea, but since you accept the idea of the possibility of external influence, you start trying to track and distinguish ‘I’ from ‘not-I’. And the not-I, strangely enough, can very well be inside the I. From experience, I can say that just the idea and the attempt to track it are not enough, it can take many years before you finally realize how to do it more effectively. Many years during which both entities and people use you, manipulate your body, suck the life energy out of you, and make you a supplier, i.e., suck life energy from other people and supply it to these manipulators. The free choice of the victim (the body for possession), or the implant of an entity by a dark master or the implantation of the dark master himself in the consciousness of the victim always happens on the basis of resonance. That is, the victim must be suitable. Something inside the victim’s consciousness must correspond to that which is being implanted from the outside. The compelling force finds a response within the victim’s consciousness and amplifies it. Like attracts like. And on the contrary, if there are no hooks, then the compelling force finds no response and the implantation does not occur. But there are hooks in every person. Everyone has their own, but everyone has them. And if you think you have none, you are very much mistaken. They will find hooks in you, adapt to you, and begin to realize their will. Besides the idea that far from all thoughts in your head are yours, it is necessary to accept the idea of the Real Existence of a Common Field of Psychocosmos (this field can be called by other words, but no matter what it’s called – It Exists and we all are in it, humans and non-humans), and the concept of Discreteness in this Field is very relative, meaning there are no clear and stable boundaries separating one being from another. The so-called ‘boundaries of vessels’ are rather bilaterally permeable membranes. Of course, there are various ways to track and neutralize foreign influence. The 72 gates of Lemegeton, invoking geniuses corresponding to demons – are one of the methods, but all demons and geniuses must be named, meaning you need to pass the Name of the entity, the actor of the psychocosmos (its Sound, its internal Structure) through your consciousness. To understand its insides in the context of resonance with your own insides. This is a painstaking work of many years, work with failures and falls and failures, and possibly even victories. In life, in practice, the influence of Foreign consciousness often occurs impulsively, and the Compelling Force to take action is often Unnamed or Incorrectly Named. If there is no experience of goetic practice, other approaches are needed. Enmerkar has one effective method, in my opinion – to search, find, and record phrases-statements that correspond to Your Path, the Voice of the Heart, Your Way to Experience the Current Moment. Not to memorize them by heart, but to Know Them Within Yourself, as Your Own Correct Way of Action. Plus, practice Awareness. And at the moment when a foreign impulse to action or idea tries to seize consciousness – Realize that this is Foreign Influence, NOT corresponding to the Statements of the Path and Avoid its Realization. In life, I have encountered ibburs, hybrid vortices. Analyzing several cases, I can say that they differ in exceptional health, and not innate health but Acquired together with the implant. The beings of the implants can be seen in the eyes of their victims. And yes, if such an implant is expelled – the person will die. And I also really want to say a word to those who love to judge, condemn, and express their ‘competent’ opinion about a particular person: First, look honestly into the eyes of your demons. Study them and acknowledge their influence on you. And if you do this honestly – the desire to judge others will disappear.
Dear Enmerkar. Participating in the seminar on the Veles Circle scheme in Crimea, I was able to see a feeling person within myself during the inner contemplation. I met this person in nature. Also, during the exercise of seeking the parasite of consciousness, I saw a person. I also met this person in nature. My parasite of consciousness described himself as a lunatic and mentally ill as a person of a rational type. That he is a predator, I have no doubt. The second described himself as Rosenberg (Rose). Thus, there live two predators within me. One wants to enslave my feelings and my body through reason with the help of madness. The other wants to take possession of my body through feelings and directs my attention to the end of my brain, which is my legs, my backside, and from this, my enslavement begins; he is also a big predator. I realize that they exist in reality, and I feel them within me. I experience mood swings as you describe – ‘the build-up of pride, often alternating with falls into feelings of one’s own insignificance.’ These manipulations are very exhausting for me. I am grateful to Enmerkar that you have given me life and the opportunity to be aware of these predators.
In the general discussions, I seem to have lost the real comment from a person talking about the reality inside themselves. Despite the fact that you find correspondence in yourself with the article, I, for example, wouldn’t call you possessed. Or anything else. In my opinion, you have indeed looked very deeply into yourself. I only partially realize how hard this can be. If at some point you need such a wish, just a thought from a passerby. So I wish you happiness.
Our consciousness consists of foreign thoughts. Including, everyone has the imprint of their parents, which, according to the logic of this article, can be called obsession with the deceased, close ones in energy. We generally consist of this imprint. Until individuation, for which, as we know from all existing sources, including magic, there are kilometers of paths. Foreign thoughts in the head can also be our own (borrowed or learned), shadows, any parts of personality, separate from the main axis of consciousness. Do you consider the woman you heard in your head at 18 to be possessed? Are you sure that it was she who said exactly what you heard? Is anyone who evokes shame in you considered possessed?
I did not hear a voice of a woman in my head. She entered my consciousness and manipulated my feelings (evoking a feeling of shame in me) and manipulated my body (I bent my head to my feet and did not dare to look at the lecturer). At the same time, I was confident that I was experiencing my own feelings and bowing my head out of my own will………after the lecture was over, I lifted my head, turned left, and saw this woman and realized her influence on me. It is not the woman who is possessed, but I was possessed by that woman during the period when the influence was happening. I brought this example to show that a person can act and feel By Another’s Will, not their own. But at the same time, a person is confident they are acting by their will.
How do you know that the woman was actually manipulating? This is a subjective assessment. Who are you trying to heal and it’s not to everyone’s liking. I don’t think your goal is to catch someone, manipulate, and torment them. How does possession by a woman relate to possession by demons?
It is known because when the lecture was over and the lecturer left the stage – my feelings and desires immediately changed. I abruptly stopped feeling shame and stopped considering myself guilty for having acted improperly towards the lecturer. I returned to the state I was in before the woman began her influence. I used this example to show that a person can very easily fall under the influence of foreign consciousness. Possession is the implantation of foreign consciousness, suppression of will, control, and manipulation of the body and consciousness of the victim. And a demon can be not only an elemental or elementary, but also a living person (evil sorcerer) wishing to invade the consciousness of the victim with their own consciousness, to extract life energy, to control and manipulate the victim. I have no goals to heal someone because it implies connecting on an energetic level with another person. There is no need for such interactions.
What was the state at the moment of losing control and before returning to the original state? A slight clouding? Loss of sensitivity? Or nothing changed. And another question – how safe is scanning in terms of traces from the energy state of the one being researched?
1. Tremor in the body. 2. Unsafe for amateurs)) …..when there is no experience yet – you do it roughly, as if tearing the shell of the energy cocoon and penetrating inside (for comparison, if, say, you cut open a chicken body and thrust your hand inside, then, after pulling it out, the hand will be stained with the inner contents of the chicken)………….over time, you learn to do it more subtly – not to tear, but just to touch and read. There is the Art of Magical Touch. That is enough.
Where is this taught? So that there is no break? Otherwise, it turns out just like that.
You learn yourself. …perhaps… one day you will realize that it’s better to treat others the way you want to be treated.
Everyone wants their own. Some want such immersion into themselves. Some protest fiercely.
If you don’t enter, how can you know the entire depth? As a result, it’s only superficial and often a false mask. It’s only if you look long enough at the reaction caused by different modulations. And preferably explosive ones, when the mask doesn’t have time to mask the reaction, or give the person a chance to open up to you, and then you can see. But people don’t open up like that. HERE it cannot be done.
Yes, you can only understand the value of another person by delving into their world… if there is such a person whose value you want to know… but if not, there’s no need to leave deep marks on the lives of random people…
(I know, Enmerkar is against ‘transmitting tools over the internet’ and here we are challenging this paradigm and transmitting due to lack of better options. In general, if Enmerkar doesn’t like it, he’ll delete it.)
‘Where is this taught? So that there is no break? Otherwise, it turns out just like that.’
Crackjack, when you look through the thin, you don’t look directly at the person but around. You can compare it in reality with a direct gaze into the eyes and with a superficial light glance. Then no break occurs. It results in a touch. But it’s preferable to somehow know what’s happening on the other side. The sensitivity level varies for everyone.
“Possession” by one’s own parents can be called a degree of their unlove? (I do not accuse, there is such a saying that we are all children of children). And I have not seen a single malicious villain. Including one who intended to invade someone’s head and say something there. Everyone, absolutely everyone, and this is a deliberate word, believes that they do something useful for others, or they do not consider them at all. I do not know a person who would have planned to do evil to another in pure form and then did it.
There is a phenomenon called Mediumship. A medium – consciously, by their will, allows another consciousness of an operator (a person or being from other worlds) into their consciousness and their body. Mediumship includes practices like channeling, automatic writing, listening to voices at the crossroads of worlds. These practices are very dangerous as they can lead to possession. The medium may think they are communicating with higher teachers who convey sacred knowledge, and the medium gives their consent to interact, while in reality – at that moment, an implantation of a predator into consciousness occurs, feeding on the life energy of the person and manipulating their body.
Theo – thin can be different, imho. And in any case, watching transitions into a phase of interference. The deeper and more prolonged the observation, the greater the shift concerning the current assembly. And the ease of observation is like exploring a forest from the tops of trees from afar.
Tavita Shauta – regarding value, it really caught my attention. Value can be weighed by the internal censor and the trace of a person is then not an enforced ‘negative’ trace, but important and necessary. Thank you.
Demons are not “bodiless souls” that can just “incarnate.” They are independent, integral entities that already have their own version of a body and cannot change their life frequency without certain complex conditions. So, in order to “stay true to themselves” while also having a food source, it’s much easier and more convenient for them to acquire a “personal pet” that they can use both as support and as a food resource.
