Although a Magus should not entirely avoid “automating” his actions, such automation must, first, be undertaken with full awareness and, second, be sensitively controlled, and it should be applicable only within a narrow range of conditions—when those conditions change it must be discarded immediately and with ease.
Being fully immersed in action, the Magus never becomes a slave to that action and can always leave it if his impeccability requires it.
For the Magus it is very important to take into account aspects of these influences not only during special Rituals but also in “ordinary” life, since this brings him into harmony with the flow of forces in the cosmos and therefore increases the effectiveness of his workings.
Only when the choice—to live differently or not to live at all—reveals itself in all its inexorability does a person finally get the chance to restore their life’s original purpose — to know, to become aware, to create.
At the level of the individual mind the power of destruction manifests as the Parasite of mind, and at the level of the Macrocosmos — as the Supreme Predator
Magic needs an understanding of the spirit of those systems, objects, phenomena and beings with which the Magus interacts — for only by understanding a system’s spirit can the Magus predict the character of that system’s influence on himself and his Way.
Although the Life Force, unified and indivisible, fills the entire cosmos and constitutes its potential ground, each embodied being has only limited access to it.
Every system has a beginning and an end, and upon reaching the limit of its development it must be destroyed so that its constituent elements can be regrouped in a new way, available for further expansion
For the Magus, “deliverance from illusion” primarily means the mind’s emergence “from the shadow”, from that state of blinkeredness into which external and internal predators cast it.
Just as Fairies acquire a soul and true immortality only by tasting love, people born outside a connection with a Monad establish that connection through the Monad of the beloved person.
Banishment must be carried out thoroughly, attentively, and without negligence. This not only prevents unnecessary problems and dangers; it also increases the effectiveness of the performance by ensuring greater homogeneity of the energies engaged in the Ritual.
Under no circumstances must a Magus be caught on the hook of his achievements — he must never forget, even for a moment, that however great they may be, the Way ahead remains infinite, and around him the same seething life of the world continues.
The object to which the focus of the mind is transferred must have the greatest affinity to the subject — to the very field of the mind.
