Chthonic functions of dogs manifest not only in the mythological and symbolic sphere — for the magus they are a living reality, above all in the form of dogs who guard the Threshold, the sacred Pack of Semargl, or, in Celtic conception, the Dogs of Annwn.
The combination of the forest’s wisdom, age, and mystery makes its principle so deeply magical, and a proper encounter with the forest, entering its secrets, and communion with its power are, for any Magus, without exaggeration, vitally necessary.
For a Magus it is very important to know their periods of maximal and minimal availability of Power and to take them into account in their tactics.
The Magus’ state is complete confidence in his mastery over himself. Can such a state truly fail to confer protectedness?

When properly made, a Rune sign—especially a composite one—can become an unsurpassed aid on the Way, helping to hierarchize and “cosmize” the Psychocosmos, to order it and to steer the forces flowing within it along specific vectors.
Being an embodiment of movement, of realization, the Western Magus is alien to stopping and repose; for him movement is always better than stopping. Therefore he prefers moving backward — to stagnation, to a dead end — when that dead end is truly insurmountable at his current stage of development.
The events of Rituals of the Rift occur outside their participants: for the operator the field of activity is the crossing of the Rift by the other participants, while for the participants the Power that helps them cross the Threshold issues from another mind — the operator’s mind.
Situations in which an effective Magus cannot do without forming ties reduce to three cases – 1) monadic kinship; 2) the need to close the Chain; and 3) debt obligations.
Which way to choose — to return to gilgul, to linger in the elements, to enter a stone or a tree — is decided by each Family, each Magus on the threshold of their Last Battle. And that choice in any case deserves respect — respect for the spirit of the warrior.
