Missed Chances

Упущенные шансы

Although every sip of Power— every step toward gaining oneself — inevitably opens new prospects for development, most of these prospects are usually missed.

A human being is surrounded by Power on all sides, and Power constantly calls him toward the light of awareness. Yet most chances granted by Power slip past the human being’s darkened mind.

The principal reason for this is one of the most powerful destructors of the human mind: the notion that one still has time.

Even Magi, hunting Power, often fall into the trap of this destructor. The feeling that “there is no need to hurry,” that one “must think it through carefully,” “measure seven times,” and so on — amid an unceasingly shifting magical battle — often proves fatal.

We have already said many times that to seize a drop of Orlög as it flies past is sometimes not easy; yet it is precisely this drop that may prove decisive in a given incarnation.

In other words, the subtlest balance the Magus must maintain is the balance between the necessity of measuredness in each step and swiftness in decision-making. Measuredness must not become protraction, and swiftness must not become recklessness. Yet even with a minimal quantity of Hamingja, recklessness is incomparably more advantageous for a Magus than sluggishness.

The hunter’s gaze — the Magus’s gaze — must not lose its keenness for even a moment. It must instantly snatch from the surrounding world essential details, signs, and flashes of Power.

Above all else, the Magus must understand that he never has time; that the future may not come to pass; and that a lost chance in the present may prove the greatest loss upon his Way.

Therefore, it is vital not to postpone important decisions, and not to hesitate before decisive action — understanding that each moment is precisely that battle which must be won. And the question the Magus must constantly ask himself should be: “Am I missing my chance right now?”.

  1. Thank you for the article.
The assistance you provide in such a manner is simply invaluable.

  2. You always say it correctly, Enmerkar – “Being is more important than knowing” and “act as your heart tells you”. As for postponing things until tomorrow and similar actions, I believe this is simply ordinary weakness of will.

  3. Touch! Dear Enmerkar, you, as always, read minds. Thank you very much for the article, it was very timely and quite appropriate.

  4. Great article. It just shook me up—just in time. Thank you for the article.

  5. Reclaim yourself for yourself, save and accumulate the time that was previously taken or stolen from you, which passed in vain. You will see for yourself that I am speaking the truth: part of our time is taken by force, part is stolen, part flows away uselessly. But the most shameful loss is that due to our own carelessness. Look closely: we spend the largest part of our life on bad deeds, a considerable part on idleness, and a lifetime not on what is necessary. Will you point out to me anyone who valued time, who knew how much a day is worth, who understood that with every hour he dies? Our trouble is that we see death ahead; yet the larger part of it is behind us – for how many years of life have passed, all belong to death. Don’t let an hour slip by. If you hold today in your hands – you will depend less on tomorrow. Otherwise, while you postpone, your entire life will pass by. All we have, which is foreign, is only our time. Only time, elusive and flowing, nature has given us to possess, but even it can be taken away from those who want it. Mortals are foolish: receiving something insignificant, cheap and surely easily replaceable, they allow themselves to be billed; however, those who have been given time do not consider themselves debtors, although only time does not return even to those who know gratitude. Perhaps you will ask how I act if I dare to instruct you? I confess sincerely: like a spendthrift, meticulous in calculations, I know how much I have squandered. I cannot say that I lose nothing, but how much I lose, and why, and how, I will say and name the reasons for my poverty. Things for me are the same as for the majority of those who did not reach poverty through their own vice; everyone forgives me, no one helps. Well, so what? In my opinion, the one who is satisfied with even the smallest remainder is not poor. But you better take care of your possessions now: after all, it’s high time! As our ancestors claimed, it’s too late to be frugal when only scraps remain. And besides, there is not only little there, but the very worst.

  6. It’s interesting how the signs in the picture show: with his head, he chooses the blonde, but… uh, with his lower chakras)) The guy is already under the power of an Eastern beauty 🙂 Thank you for the post.

    • As for me, he looks in the picture deep within himself 🙂 And he will choose neither this nor that, but will go straight his own way, listening to his heart 🙂 After all, he needs deep down in his Soul one who would be both one and the other 🙂 And the girls are just for the entourage 🙂 And it’s not about the girls ;))
