The Talking World

The reality of the Magical realm is such that it is both black and white, both hostile and friendly, and do not get the impression that the world is entirely hostile any more than entirely benevolent.

The situation the Magus faces is one of active hostility set against a background of potential goodwill. In other words, the beings manifested in the world of Magical myth live in a state of perpetual battle for resources and for their independence; yet at the same time the potential reality is the world’s emergent striving for self-knowledge, for development and for the accumulation of awareness.

It is on the cusp of this duality that the Way of the Magus lies: he fights for his freedom, and at the same time strives not merely to survive but also to accumulate power.

And in that striving he has a great number of enemies — both internal and external — but he also possesses a room for maneuver that the very fabric of the world provides him.

As we have repeatedly discussed that obstruct movement and seek to keep the traveler within the cramped confines of victimhood, destined only to feed predators. At the same time, we have noted that Power manifests itself in numerous signals surrounding the Magus on all sides.

Although the Magus lives in a world consumed by mutual devouring madness, just as in the depths of the psychocosm the drive toward Power and freedom always remains alive, so the macrocosm constantly responds to changes in the density of the Power flow. Having learned to see and hear these manifestations of the macrocosm, the Magus finds himself surrounded by numerous voices reporting on the state of Power and on his condition. The value of this information is hard to overstate, since understanding one’s position on the battlefield and assessing one’s surroundings are the most important conditions for effective fighting.

For example, it is well known that by asking oneself a truly important question one can “accidentally” hear the answer from a passing stranger on the street or read it on a sign scrawled across a fence.

The ability to notice the wind moving the leaves, the flight of birds or the scud of clouds is an important skill for the Magus not only because it expands his attention from the narrow focus of everyday life to the breadth of the universe, but also because it increases his chances of spotting “breaches” in the illusion imposed on his perception by predators — that is, of seeing the signs of Power, and therefore finding a passage to it.

Thus, one should not be left with the impression that the signs by which the Magus guides his advance are some special phenomena. The world constantly speaks to the Magus; it sends him “battlefield reports” — in other words, the ability to hear and notice the world’s movements is as important a magical skill as the ability to see energies.

  1. Signs of the World should:
    1. Be able to notice;
    2. Be able to interpret;
    Just noticing and not understanding, getting confused in guesses, torturing yourself with empty fears… to prevent this from happening – build Your Flexible system of interpretation that can eventually turn into Knowledge… and you will only fix your eyes on the confirmations of the World.
    For example, today:
    There was a very important matter. I was driving a car.
    1. empty road – a black cat runs across right in front of my car.
    2. highway outside the city – a pigeon flies right in front of my windshield.
    3. almost at the Place – a falcon hovers above the road.
    I KNOW that I will have support 1 – ‘from below’ and 2 – ‘from above’ and … everything will work out:))

  2. Tracking oneself through ‘mirrors’ can help find one’s own distractors, answers to ‘urgent’ questions can be received from the signs of the surrounding world. But is it possible to use a tyrant as a mirror, will these indications be adequately enough? 🙂

    • If you do not justify yourself, do not think: “I am so beautiful, and he/she is with me like this and that, I do not deserve this!” and instead attempt to assess the situation soberly, then, of course, the tension reflects the weaknesses of the being.
