Runes and Transcendence

Magic as the Way is not so much a method for achieving particular ends as a method for increasing one’s own level of realization. In other words, everything a Magus does is aimed at actualizing the potencies of his mind’s potentials to expand it. When we speak of the mind’s “development”, we do not mean the mind can be absolutely ‘more’ or ‘less’ developed; we mean it should perform genuine self-reflection.

Thus any magical approach, any tool or method a Magus uses, does not only serve private aims; it is always directed toward the development of the mind and, in a certain sense, toward a global overcoming of the mind’s limitations. Ultimately, everything a Magus does seeks to know himself in the world and to know the world in himself.

Since awareness can be seen as a flow, its movement can be described as directional, vectorized, so one can use simple vectors to organize. This is precisely the aim of the magic of “inner Galdr,” where Runes serve as instruments of mental development.

However, the mind has neither source nor limits; thus all flows begin and end in infinity. Thus every Runic vector in the mind’s flow aims at the mind’s transcendence of limits and at its awareness of itself as absolute.

By initiating any Rune flow, the mind moves along it out of itself and into itself, yet along the way it attains some realizations. At the same time, these particular goals often capture attention and make it seem as if the task of the vector were to achieve them; the mind then gets stuck in particulars.

A Magus must discover his nature, not those private goals that appear as milestones.

For example, by engaging Fehu’s power, the Magus follows the path of earned gain, transforming effort into results — through mastering Fohat and ordering his creative forces — aiming at the mind’s reflection as creative power able to make its elements ‘matter’, an instrument of self-knowledge. Although the mind may reach goals here, the Way leads beyond the private flow toward the mind as a principle. Therefore, it is important not to become stuck in private aims, not to mistake them for ultimate reality.

Similarly, activating Uruz, the mind follows life-power, transforming potentials into possibilities, finding resources for their realization, expressing will as a principle — toward the mind’s reflection as a boundless field that finds creative possibilities within itself. Again, do not cling to these potentials of the limited body or even of will as if they were final outcomes of the mind’s presence in this Rune.

Odin

From these two Runes we see that the mind reveals external and internal creativity, its capacity to know itself in action.

Similarly, initiating a Runic flow within oneself and stepping onto a particular Vector’s Way, a vector always leads to infinity. Follow it as far as possible.

Only by striving to overcome all limitations and to transcend all conditions and concepts can a Magus attain significant realization of consciousness and thus fulfill his destiny.

  2. After reading the article, the reason for people’s pursuit of entertainment came to mind. The reason is that consciousness striving for self-realization and expansion gets stuck in the circular flow of illusory private goals (author’s note). And instead of developing and generating new streams, consciousness spirals in a circle unwilling to leave the meaningless cycle.

  4. For in the Void, birth takes place, while in space – filling, enriching, increasing, and ripening. Streams of consciousness cannot originate from nowhere; they are embodiments of our ideas or are formed when connecting to the Space of ideas for gaining experience and its development further.

    • Hello. The path begins with identifying one’s nature, one’s Orlieg, as well as one’s debts and tasks (skuld), and consists in establishing (verdanth) one’s actual activity (weird) in accordance with one’s orlieg.

      • Thank you for the clarification. Tell me, what is the phenomenon described by Monroe in preview of key events of embodiment and how does it intersect with prophetic dreams, phenomena of déjà vu? For what purpose and from where does this information come?
