Meetings of the Magi
Since ancient times Magi have long believed that a meeting — even a chance meeting in the street — of two or more Magi is an energetically significant event.
Magi have observed that the surplus power generated by each, when it meets a similar surplus, enters a distinct ‘excited’ state.
On the one hand, this makes possible far more effective realizations than those achieved alone, but on the other hand — and precisely for that reason — rapid and substantial power is drained into those rituals, which represents a certain danger.
For this reason a tradition developed of approaching Magi meetings carefully: preparing them, and treating them calmly and attentively.
This is especially important when Magi of different lines or schools meet — their Powers can either greatly amplify one another, complementing each other’s currents, or develop a tendency toward poorly controlled discharges.
At the same time, Magi of the same line, by contrast, can raise their flow’s maximum only together, and their strength lies in the line’s unity.
All this led to the recognition and adoption of the practice of holding meetings of Magi — as frequent as possible — within a line or school, and less frequent but regular meetings between lines.
Assemblies of druids, gatherings of shamans, finally — the sabbats of witches — are all forms of such meetings. Broadly speaking, modern workshops and seminars of occult and psychological movements are also based on this phenomenon of «resonance of power».
Moreover, the striking disunity among Magi observed recently, which has among its consequences the active expansion of the Qliphoth into our world, is also partly explained by the fear of the masses of power that are activated at meetings.
Nevertheless, for contemporary Magi such a strategy is a losing strategy, leading to insularity, weakness — and thus to defeats.
Furthermore, meetings of Magi traditionally not only allowed the activation of power; they allowed each Magus to compare his Way with Tradition, which also guarded against errors and hidden influence.
From this point of view modern disunity risks the loss of Tradition — that millennia-old compass that guides in a world teeming with cunning, inventive devourers.
Finally, the third function of Magi meetings, traditionally important to them, was power surges that participants in need received — Magi who had walked a longer Way and accumulated more power offered help to those at earlier stages, and as a result the Great School’s development accelerated steadily.
And, regrettably, this function in modern times is equally suppressed — Magi increasingly regard one another as competitors rather than comrades, not helping each other, and thereby weakening the common current of magical power.
For a Magus sincerely walking his Way, it is very important to understand that in contemporary conditions the currents of power now require mutual support; therefore meetings of the Magi, when justified and prepared, can serve as a considerable aid in the common struggle for the freedom to be oneself.

Yes, that’s how it is)) every meeting with such people carries not only meaning, a check of one’s own abilities, but it also reveals (with proper interaction) another facet of the cosmos, or oneself…
For some reason, I am confident that not all lines should intersect. At the same time, I completely agree that the current disconnection is a consequence of a major loss… We will try to change the situation.
I agree with Mark. The feelings when meeting some representatives of various magical currents (I can’t call them people) are not resonant at all… but this is actually a way to understand who you are, what you are, and what your Path is…. a kind of correction.
Yes, not all lines feel joy and harmony upon meeting. However, the further apart their energies are, the greater the effect can be achieved from their connection. It is not about feeling comfortable during the encounter; it is about effectiveness. When in critical times the “black” and “white” magicians, forgetting their enmity and contradictions, united, no force could withstand such unity.
Once, I was walking in Yalta with a friend, and we were discussing some esoteric questions… I see a rather elderly man passing by us with a boy about 17-19 years old, and the boy asks him: “Tell me, is it true that magicians can do everything?”… We parted about five meters away, but there was no answer, and then I couldn’t take it and just yelled “YES!”, and after a couple more minutes when I managed to tell my friend what happened, we turned around (having gone quite far), but they had stopped and were watching us… it may not have been the meeting of the century, but it was interesting…
Unfortunately, real meetings of magicians often pose real dangers to the magician… and there are many reasons for this… First and foremost, it is not always a sufficient level of development in the moral-ethical sense and the mental adequacy of many magicians…
Some have delusions of grandeur, a messianic complex, while others just prefer the illusions of the magical world to reality. As a result of such meetings – there are rather frequent explosions of aggression, rivalry, jealousy, and other negativity.
At the same time, many magicians (or those who sincerely consider themselves as such) tend to think that their opinion is the only correct one and are not really ready for communication. Anyone who has a different point of view and dares to demonstrate the fallibility of the super-duper magician’s opinion has every chance of becoming that character’s personal enemy, with all the ensuing consequences – negative impact, etc…
Of course, there are also rare positive meetings, but this is rather an exception to the rule… Then it’s just a sharp growth and a qualitative push in development, after which one progresses at an accelerated pace…
I will probably fully agree with you on this point…. Indeed, every time you meet someone like yourself, you get a huge boost towards progress. Thus you grow, realize yourself, but the coolest part is when half of your friends are into esotericism, and each has their unwavering opinion, and you constantly share experiences!!!!
OlgaFlores, regarding the notion that magicians can do everything. Can I write to you and ask a question? My email is simiraj@bk.ru
So it’s visible with whom one can interact, and from whom one should keep their distance.
The master never competes with another master, as each of them has their own unique and unrepeatable Path. If on the Path you are walking, you need to overtake and compete with someone – are you walking your Path?
On the other hand, I think every person we meet throughout life can teach us something. At least that one should not live like them or do as they do. 🙂
Can a meeting provoke a certain aftertaste, or is it a consequence of a fulfilled desire for an accidental meeting?
There is a lot written here about magicians obsessed with hatred, envy, and narcissism… I cannot understand how one can become a magician without overcoming selfishness. Isn’t it a result of a person’s transition to a higher level of evolution (the basic state of the upper anahata-lower vishuddhi, where is the selfishness from?) Maybe then we should not call them magicians, but ‘people with supernatural abilities’, to avoid confusion?
Selfishness comes in different forms (psychological, esoteric). It is precisely the Ego that undergoes transformation and changes, it can go into a separate part, cultivate its individuality, or dissolve in the flow, becoming one with it. It can also vary from low significance to super significance (characterized by narcissism). Ideally, one should not fall into extremes.
From an esoteric point of view, Ego (or rather selfishness) is perceived negatively, as a lower, illusory element of Self. If you read, then ‘ego is bad, you should spiritually flutter like a butterfly, pollinate spiritual flowers – with happiness and love, give your entire self to everyone.’ Well, no, magicians can also be ambitious (and can be angry, in fact, they control it, or ‘anger’ can adopt a different quality, though this is for enlightened magicians).
And for lower magical classes with control, it can be difficult, that is, witches, psychics, and so on. As well as those who were chosen by the force, but as they say ‘where there is power – there is no need for intelligence,’ here, however, there exists a danger of uncontrolled and unreasonable interaction.
And it can also be difficult with non-‘green’ magicians, as mentioned above. Their interests, like those of magicians and forces, could be. And parasites of consciousness are always ready and keep watch… The magician is a warrior, a creator, the creator itself, and the Universe, a complex mechanism))) And if there are several of them…
Only the Power knows the outcome.
Milita, your comment inspired my thoughts.
It is important not to confuse Ego with selfishness. Ego, as I understand it, is precisely those walls of the Vessel that allow you not to dissolve in the overall Flow, but to preserve and develop individuality, to increasingly carve out your uniqueness. However, this does not interfere in any way with recognizing the value and respecting the uniqueness of the Universes around, but rather encourages the desire to contribute to global development. And selfishness… it leads to fragmentation, fixation on one’s Universe, rejecting the understanding of the importance and equivalence of other Universes.
Elena, I agree that ego and selfishness are different concepts) There is also the concept of egocentrism. It’s a play of definitions, as always. “The amusing paradox of philosophy is that selfishness is usually attributed to those who do not know how to love themselves.” 🙂
I had an interesting encounter. One person sat down on a bench at the station and started a conversation with me, asking: ‘Do you believe that consciousness can be created artificially (like in a test tube)?’ After that, the conversation flowed into various esoteric topics. Although this person denied having anything to do with magic, it felt like he knew both who he was and his Path, as well as many other things. Moreover, he suddenly asked questions on topics that had recently interested me. Based on his questions and words, there was a feeling that he had mapped out the entire terrain of my consciousness in just a few minutes! He laid out almost all the information that had been in my head, which I had been gathering like scraps for 5 years! Sometimes he even added to it things that I didn’t know. In the conversation, he used the most important concepts of my life, which made my consciousness suddenly activate, as if he was finding trigger points every time. This entire conversation was accompanied by a strange state within me: against the backdrop of not understanding what was happening, there was a deep immersion in ‘I am’. And I listened to him, simply swallowing every word. He did not emanate danger. At the end of this ‘chance’ encounter, he said that he could see the ‘roots’ of things. Another phrase he left me with was: ‘I was simply reflecting your light.’ The day after contact with this person, I felt an immense Power. Enmerkar, could you clarify this situation a bit? What was that? Can a person not connected to magic read another’s consciousness like this? Or is he just lying about not being connected to magic? Usually, I easily grasp people’s intentions, but here I’m confused; I don’t understand who he is. I have the opportunity to continue contact with this person. Should I do that? How significant might this meeting be for development?
Thank you, dear Teacher.
Are you also from Crimea?
Yeah, that’s for sure, I flew far and away from that push for a long time 😉 but then I realized it.
Anything can happen there 🙂
