The Energy of Luck

The notion of existing within a flow of probabilities, actualized through the perceiver’s direct participation, is one of the keys to the magical cosmology. Indeed, any realization can be regarded as an active choice between possibilities, one chance or another, taking place within the mind.
At the same time, it is clear that such a choice depends on a whole range of factors — the chooser’s degree of awareness, energy available to it, previous choices and their consequences.
Accordingly, even when the mind is interested in a particular outcome, something quite different may occur in practice — something that can be either favorable or destructive for the bearer of the mind. It is understood that such an unfavorable development of a situation, which at first glance seems to occur against the individual’s will, is usually linked to causal chains and is rarely the result of truly malign intent.

However, in a number of cases another pattern occurs — the mind is guided along a scenario favorable to it, as if independently of causal chains, as if “adjusting” those chains to itself. This situation, commonly called “luck” or “good fortune”, of course does not arise from nowhere, but is the result of the manifestation of a special energy traditionally called the “energy of luck”, or Hamingya.
According to the Myth we consider, The Energy of luck is a particular manifestation of Life energy. Strictly speaking, the Life Force, Meigin, manifests, as all streams do, in ternary energies: 1) as the proper energy of vitality, Zhiva, which enables manifestation itself — the “horizontal” stream; 2) as the energy of harmonization of the bearer of the mind, of its self-development and environment — Baraka and Dinitas — the “ascending” stream; 3) as the energy of harmonizing the mind’s environment — Hamingya — the “descending” stream. The highest form of Hamingya energy is Vod — “sacred fury”, the highest inspiration, descending into the world and the mind from the “higher” layers.

At the same time, each manifestation of Life Energy has its own laws of functioning: Zhiva is usually used to increase awareness; its quantity typically decreases over a lifetime, and access to it is determined by the evolutionary stage of the bearer of the mind; Baraka usually increases during life, and this growth only begins after a certain stage of the mind’s self-harmonization, and the influence of Baraka is usually directed toward streams of consciousness that resonate with it; Hamingya behaves nonlinearly — it can be rapidly exhausted or can manifest over long periods of time.

It is clear that most often the quantity of Hamingya is determined by the mind’s past existences; it is something like a “reward”, a “capital” that the mind receives in its current incarnation as a consequence of past accumulations. In this sense, the Energy of luck is a kind of “bonus” that an individual receives in this incarnation and which can be spent either usefully, on increasing awareness, or squandered ineptly.
Moreover, each type of Life Force has its own degree of attachment to the embodied individual: Baraka is practically inalienable; it is an “individual product” and can be transferred from one being to another only with great difficulty and only under conditions of strong resonance between them; Zhiva has a lesser degree of affinity for its bearer and can pass from one being to another fairly easily, provided there is skill in assimilating it (this occurs in various forms of energetic vampirism); Hamingya is even less firmly associated with the current manifestation of the mind and therefore can be taken and used by other beings.
There are many historical examples when Luck was “stolen”, won in battle, given away or sold. Many people with a high level of “good fortune” use it to accumulate material goods or other limited advantages. In any case, Hamingya is very rarely used for its primary purpose — to contribute to accelerated development of awareness — and is instead dissipated over the course of life, which, of course, leads in the next incarnation to the appearance of an “unlucky” being.

Most often, Hamingya accumulates as the so-called “energy of victory“: each victory gives a person some amount of this energy, which thus gradually accumulates until either the exertion or the already accumulated Hamingya is sufficient to ensure that the sequence of victories is not interrupted. However, when an encounter with a too-powerful opponent or obstacle occurs, and strength and luck are insufficient to overcome them, defeat follows, in which the Hamingya is as if “reset”, and therefore this loss leads to a subsequent series of “misfortunes”. As they say, “misfortunes never come alone”. Then gradually, if one manages to achieve even a small victory, the flow “breaks” and a new, more or less prolonged “rise” in the accumulation of luck begins. If a warrior is sufficiently calculating and avoids encounters with opponents or obstacles that are beyond their abilities — thus avoiding losses and falls — then the amount of their Hamingya can increase to enormous levels, and they remain very lucky and invincible. However, there is the danger of “intoxication with success”, of further overestimation of one’s strength, and, sooner or later, a disheartening defeat or even a fatal outcome.

At the same time, being one of the manifestations of the Life Force, Hamingya can be obtained from its other types — from Zhiva or Baraka — by reducing them. Indeed, there are many known cases when people unconsciously converted their Zhiva into Hamingya, won a large prize or other profit, and then their life (or health) went downhill. Many amulets for “attracting luck” operate precisely in this way. Demonic beings often “sell” luck to inexperienced Magi, in effect transforming these unfortunates’ Zhiva into Hamingya, and, of course, pocketing a substantial share of the “red light“.
Another important feature of Hamingya is that, like other forms of Zhiva‘s manifestation, luck does not add across sources (for awareness, on the contrary, additivity is characteristic): just as a person in a group does not become healthier than they are alone, if a collective gathers people possessing different levels of Hamingya, the collective luck does not accumulate; it is limited at the level of the most “fortunate” member of that community. True, if someone in the collective has luck below a certain “minimum”, they will temporarily “steal” the luck of other members of the community, and the collective’s total Hamingya decreases. Nevertheless, when the collective dissolves, each person again remains with their own level of Luck.
For the Magus, the level of their Luck is a consciously significant factor in their development. If a Magus sees that their amount of Hamingya is large, they try to use this energy to seize favorable opportunities for development and evolution; if a Magus possesses little luck, they also take this into account and do not rely on good fortune, but strive to apply more effort and be more attentive than is necessary for other people. In any case, “luck” for the Magus is not an inexplicable play of probability, but the result of a specific energy that can be assessed, measured, and should be used appropriately.

The very concept of luck and misfortune is quite a complex notion. Is a difficult path, on which the body and the brain convolutions are strengthened as a result of efforts, considered luck, or is it a light path that preserves energy and allows enjoyment from rapid results?
For different people – luck can be perceived differently, showcasing its subjective component.
The probability that, being desired by a person, manifests by itself (in the absence or minimal effort on their part) is subjectively perceived as luck.
Meanwhile, luck also has its objective component – the facilitation of external factors for the growth of Awareness Power of the Mage. In this sense, magical luck consists of situations where the Macrocosm promotes the most effective Development of the Microcosm, to bring the latter to Awareness. Awareness is the situation when the Macrocosm is fully Reflected in the Microcosm, in both its realized and potential plans.
Considering that the realization of luck is extracting the most efficient probabilistic line from the potential reality, it is evident that the key to such Realization is the Intention of the Mage to not only develop their Awareness but do it in the most rapid and EFFECTIVE way. Integrity of intention and absence of contradictions with the state of universal equilibrium are crucial for realizing luck.
Integrity of intention is achieved through unified awareness formulation at all levels (not effectiveness and awareness, but MostEffectiveAwareness).
Absence of contradictions with the state of universal equilibrium is achieved through the Mage’s Sequence – where the subsequent action logically follows from the previous one, rather than contradicting it (including at the subconscious level). For instance, it is hard to expect luck’s favor if the previous realizations carried out by the mage were quite unfavorable to the luck of others. (A mage producing unsuccessful realizations for others ultimately produces them for himself, within the law of universal equilibrium).
The realization aspect of luck can also be guided by the Priorities of the Mage; hence, one should not be surprised by proverbs like – “unlucky in cards, lucky in love.” And above all, one should not be surprised that if the priority is to find thread in the color of the shirt, after thorough searches the optimal thread is found, while the milk has already boiled over. Priorities, just like everything in the Psychocosmos, can be True, or can be the product of Predators. Therefore, successful clearing of the Psychocosmos promotes more effective Realization of Luck.
Good day, En.
Two questions: 1) In many legends and myths, there are heroes who appear more than ordinary, if not “unworthy,” yet they are favored by gods and luck. The question is: does this happen because in their past life they deserved something, they trace their lineage back to the gods, or something like that, or can it be “being in the right place at the right time” when some creature pours streams of virtual money on the first person it encounters and translates these into the material world in a more or less necessary direction? Or, in any case, is there some primary cause for why this person ended up in this place at this time?
This question is merely speculative – just curious.
2) You often mention various energy transformations, but if my memory serves me right, you never explored this subject from a practical perspective (which aligns with your approach to more theoretical articles in the blog).
Nonetheless, I think I’m not the only one interested in hearing about this from a more practical side, especially since you recently discussed a fairly practical ritual for the pentagram. What practices, in your view, lead to the accumulation of energies (life, awareness, luck), and which lead to their conversion? Which of those practices should be approached with maximum caution, and so on. I think that the ability to distinguish between accumulation and conversion will be useful to many. So that at some point one does not realize that the practice of accumulation was, in fact, a practice of conversion and one’s life force is already nearly depleted.
Hello!
1) Regarding the causes of luck – more often than not, they are indeed the consequences of processes launched in past existences, which bear their fruits. And even when it seems that luck is a result of “chance,” it is evident that like any chance, it is a pattern whose causes are not obvious. So if we are not talking about some deliberately “stolen,” gifted, or battled-for hamsa, most likely there is a consequence of past actions. And the already existing energy finds paths for its emergence, “clearing” the channel for the realization flow. And although such uneven distribution of luck may seem unjust, it is, in fact, quite predictable.
2) I have already mentioned several times that the policy of this blog is to provide material for reflection, as my deep belief is that correct understanding inevitably leads to effective actions. By offering “ready-made practices,” I would have to take on the responsibility for any, including unskillful, incorrect, and ineffective applications, copying, reproducing. Thus, resulting in an increase in the number of puffers cloning someone else’s approaches, and on the other hand, burdening my own karma. Only when the presented material (and I have repeated many times that all ideas and concepts presented in this blog are the results of my personal practical experience) is suitable for reflection, analysis, and then application, can it effectively contribute to the readers’ consciousness development, helping them develop their own approaches and practices instead of copying ready-made schemes. Let me reiterate – Magic is a practically oriented Path; it is the Path of actions not reflections or discussions, but Magical actions are aware, structured, and organized, and therefore require a clear understanding of one’s nature.
Thank you for your response.
Regarding 2. Yes, your position on this issue is quite clear. I meant the possibility to generalize the principles instead of specific examples of such practices. In fact, I provided an example of the usefulness of such scrutiny, for example: so that a person has more chances to understand what kind of practice they gleaned from the internet (not from you) – accumulation or conversion. But, of course, the decision to transition this consideration, even if generalized, between ready practices and reflections is up to you.
Thank you, En! As always – timely, clear, and careful.
Sincerely,
En, what do you think, is stolen or conquered luck lawful? in terms of karma. To defeat a lucky opponent by betting your life, to win by wagering something valuable, I think that is fair. But to steal… Or to take, say, from your lucky deceased relative and pass down good fortune to yourself. Such a method, is it an expression of flexibility/smartness in bypassing the Law (of labor, merit) or is it a violation of the Law? What do you think?
Although the magician creates his own laws, and for him – everything effective is lawful, it does not mean that the magician is outside the rules or outside responsibility. On the contrary, such an approach implies the maximum degree of responsibility for the magician, since he does not conceal, nor evade, he acknowledges his actions as his own, and is prepared to respond to all the consequences to which these actions may lead. Therefore, your question can be reduced to the extent to which the magician is ready to accept responsibility for these actions – for theft or for reclaiming fortune. If he behaves consistently, does not shirk, and does not hide from responsibility – that is his choice and his battle. But if the magician behaves as a criminal – stealthily stealing something, and then attempts to avoid the natural results of his actions – he is indeed a criminal, who will be pursued by his retribution, his karma. So the question lies in the awareness of the consequences and the degree of readiness for them.
This question is not for me, but I will answer.
If you steal luck, it signifies that it may be stolen from you in the future. (And not only luck.)
This means that, in a karmic sense, you support such an order of affairs.
I doubt you would like it if someone were to steal something from you at the most inconvenient moment.
—————
In general, any theft is considered a distortion and is unlawful. This is not Law, it’s deeper.
An exception occurs when you agree with someone that you can steal from each other. Then there is a law (here it is precisely a law), permitting this. And from the perspective of the other in such a case, it is not considered a violation.
(Well, or if someone else wants you to steal from them.)
—————
You can choose not to steal, you can ask. Including mentally. If they allow, you can take it. And then it is not considered stealing.
In general, theft differs from receiving only in that the other participant does not wish for you to take it. That’s the only difference.
Greetings.
But if, for example, the possibilities of transferring Meigin into one of the three power categories are artificially lowered, does the transfer into larger quantities increase in the remaining ones?
That is, as an example, do artists who have severely depleted their health gain greater realizational power?
Power does not simply flow from one state to another, it transforms, changes its state. Hence, a deficiency of one type of energy does not necessarily imply a surplus of others. Conversely, as a rule, a significant loss of one type of energy hinders the accumulation of others.
Hello, Enmerkar. In different areas of being, different “quantities” of force are observed. For example, a person is lucky in one thing and unlucky in another. What explanation does the Myth give for this phenomenon?
It is not so much different quantities of force as it is different stability of flows. Each of us is capable (some consciously and controllably, others unconsciously and uncontrollably) of generating specific flows (https://en.enmerkar.com/magus-way/svoj-dar). And precisely through those flows, which we tend to generate, we direct preferable amounts of the energy available to us. The whole life of a human (and, to a greater extent – a magician) is a continuous redistribution of energy from one flow to another, from various sources to various channels.
I have noticed from my own experience that the level of luck increases when the level of energy, Personal Power, and awareness increases, and also during spikes of Power. During downturns, inactivity, and decreased energy, luck also declines. So it seems there is a direct connection between luck and personal power and tone.
An interesting article, like most of your works. Dear Enmerkar, you have described the transition of Zhyva to Khamingya wonderfully; I would be curious to know a similar description of the transition of Baraka to Khamingya (I suspect that a similar process occurred with me in the recent past).
En, thank you so much. The theme of Luck is revealed in an incredibly interesting way!! I’m absolutely thrilled. I want to say again that I am not just glad but happy to meet you. This is definitely my LUCK on this segment of my Path.
Hello Master! If possible, tell me about luck that doesn’t end and behind which there is power.
