Faeries, Epiklets, and “Enochian” Magic

As we have already discussed, the worldview and technologies known as “Enochian Magic” originate from approaches to managing interworld realms developed by the faeries of the Unseelie Court and supported by the “angels of the Interval” — Epiklets.

In fact, “Enochian Magic” is the art of compilation and decompilation of the semantic code that underlies the perception of the Interworld, the forms and interactions of its inhabitants.

If in “traditional” Magic the Names of spirits — angels, demons, deities, and so on — are “givens,” that is, they are perceived as “fixed” embodiments of logoi, then for “Enochiana” they are each time “assembled” anew from the semantic spaces of the Tablets, much like computer visualization is compiled from program code.

Exactly this approach is used in the perception of the Interworld, which takes shape each time in accordance with the intentions and tendencies of the observer’s mind.

The faeries mastered such “magic of fluid forms” long before the Exodus into the Interworld, since their contacts and interaction skills with Intermediate hyperspaces were extensive.

Having ended up there as a “permanent place of residence,” they further developed and adapted these skills for protective purposes, in order to avoid energy loss, predator attacks, and manage Portals that serve as their primary channels for movement and communication.

At the same time, the ussids, as we have also discussed, formed numerous “hunting coalitions” with other inhabitants of the Interval, aimed at increasing efficiency in extracting energy from worlds and interworld transients.

It is noteworthy that neither historians nor practitioners of “Enochian Magic” can identify its goals or an underlying ideology, noting only the high effectiveness of its approaches and formulating its task as a kind of abstract “acquisition of wisdom.”

The very founders of the penetration of these Intermediate technologies into our world — J. Dee and E. Kelly — seem to have had no choice at all, since they were merely following the instructions of those “angels” who appeared in their visions. They were profoundly enchanted by the “closeness” of non-human forces and actors, and felt like “inhabitants of paradise,” speaking “on familiar terms” with angels, Kings and Grandees of the “heavenly kingdoms.”

However, as the extensive experience of practitioners of “Enochiana” shows, its effect is very similar to the effects of many psychotropic substances and plants: their visions can be vivid and phantasmagoric, often accompanied by an emotional high and even exaltation, but afterward they leave a sense of emptiness and exhaustion. That tendency toward “dopamine” addiction, which is characteristic of people seeking quick gratification, played a key role in the spread of “Enochian” approaches: if Traditional Goetia or Theurgy require lengthy preparation and their Rituals often end in failure, then “Enochiana” is comparatively simple and highly effective.

Even if we do not adhere to the ideas that the goal of “Enochian” magic is to bring the apocalypse closer, it is impossible not to acknowledge that it always destabilizes borders between worlds in a certain way.

Here we can find the simplest explanation for the reason for its spread in the world: after the Exodus of the faeries, when many Portals into the Middle World were closed by the sidhe of the Seelie Court or even sealed altogether, the Unseelie faeries found themselves in a situation of limited hunting opportunities. Of course, they faced the task of “breaking new trails” to sources of sustenance.

For this, they “joined forces” with the “Wandering princes” of the Interworld — free Epiklets who had long experience and ability to cross the Border, and thus were able to “graft” onto people their technologies of “derealization” of the manifested world, is, in fact — of making new breaches and “wormholes” in its boundaries.

Indeed, it is not difficult to notice that the approaches and energies that are used in the “assembly” of images, names, Pyramids, and so on with the help of the “Enochian Tablets” — also work in the reverse direction: they not only “compile” code into images, but also decompile images into code.

However, it is precisely this feature, if approached cautiously and attentively, truly constitutes the valuable core of “Enochiana.” With the right approach and emphases, studying the technologies of compilation/decompilation of reality can bring the most valuable awareness and experience. In this sense, understanding the origin and hidden goals of these technologies should not be repelling, but rather guiding them into a constructive channel.

Correct and safe practice of “Enochiana” is, in fact, the work of a “tester,” observing how semantic structures are transformed into physical ones, and vice versa — how physics is “decompiled” into fields and bits of information, meanings and ideas.

Along the way, it allows one to study the habits of predators that manipulate human vanity, provoke energy losses, and destructive actions under conditions of insufficient sobriety and awareness.

Therefore, to the question: “Is it worth practicing Enochian Magic?” one can answer: “Yes, it is worth it, if you place emphasis correctly and do not fall into traps.”
