It is precisely consonance — the mutual reinforcement of elements — that is the chief sign of a system’s harmonious state. In fact, the measure of a system’s harmony is its coherence: the mutual interdependence of its elements.
On the one hand, in the effort to hasten passage through particular stages there is a risk of failing to extract their maximal Power, and on the other — by ‘forcing’ Power, one can become stuck in movement. Therefore it is precisely the choice of the right battle strategy that helps achieve a high effectiveness of movement.
At a certain stage in the development of the mind, further progress becomes possible only through the transmission of knowledge. In other words, one who has reached a certain level of development must become a Master.
The honor of the Magus is his self‑identity; it is his acceptance of responsibility for his decisions and his fulfillment of the obligations he has undertaken. Such a state, first, is a manifestation of the Magus’s will and, second, a testament to and support of his integrity.
The Way ‘from theory to practice’ is usually far more effective, since it prevents the repetition of blind actions, unconscious waste of power, and ineffective influences so characteristic of novice ‘practitioners’ who squander vast amounts of power merely through misunderstanding.
It is necessary to warn all practitioners against such neglect, to remind them that there are no trifles: in a battle where a Magus’s soul and freedom are at stake, any one of these “trifles” can prove decisive.
The magical myth regards Power in two modifications — in the aspect of Vital and Personal Power (Meigin and Mattr). Unfortunately, these two kinds of power are very often confused, which prevents their effective use.
Understanding the full relativity of his account of the world, the Magus must strive to explain all phenomena on the basis of the system he has adopted.
For a Magus it is more effective to say not simply, “this is the truth,” but, “for me at this stage this is the truth,” thereby emphasizing this notion’s double dependence—on the person and on the stage of the Way.
A Magus torn by inner contradictions has very good prospects for development, but very low effectiveness in practical realizations.
The Magical myth emphasizes the utmost responsibility of the being for its destiny, both in this life and for future incarnations bound to it by a thread of individuality.
Not dividing the body into “subtle” and “coarse,” Magic emphasizes the equal importance of perception on all planes, without privileging any of them as more or less valuable for the development of the mind or for the realization of the Monad’s potentials.
The art of attaining the state of magical inspiration is one of the most important areas of a Magus’s training, and undeservedly often falls out of the attention of practitioners.
